RootMaker® Products Co., has entered a strategic partnership with Footprint®, to launch the WalkAway BioPot. This collaboration aims to transform the future of plant cultivation with an eco-friendly, plantable alternative to eliminate traditional single use plastic pots.
The new BioPot continues RootMaker’s innovative approach to enhancing plant growth through root pruning containers by providing superior root structure development while significantly reducing environmental impact. Footprint complements this vision by offering expertise in creating sustainable products that replace single-use plastics.
WalkAway BioPots, made from sustainable, fiber, biobased materials free of microplastics and contributes to the soil as it breaks down naturally over time. A patented and unique design provides for air root-pruning that increases root-tip surface area for greater plant efficiency and not circling roots within the container. The openings for root-pruning facilitate the rapid establishment after a plant is planted. The BioPots have a 7.5” height, 6.5” inside top diameter and a 7” top diameter. They also offer a cooler root zone temperature than traditional containers.
Key Features and Benefits of the RootMaker WalkAway BioPot
Transformative Construction
Made from Footprint’s advanced plant-based fibers, the BioPot ensures minimal environmental footprint and contributes to soil health as it breaks down naturally over time.
Optimized Root Growth
Utilizing RootMaker’s proprietary air-pruning technology, the BioPot promotes healthier, more robust root systems, leading to stronger, more resilient plants.
Versatile Applications
Ideal for both commercial growers and home gardeners, the BioPot is designed to support a wide range of plant species and cultivation methods.
Enhanced Water Efficiency
The BioPot’s unique material composition aids in moisture retention while preventing root rot, ensuring optimal hydration for plants. It also keeps the plant much cooler than current plastic containers.
“Partnering with Footprint to create the BioPot aligns perfectly with our mission to advance sustainable horticulture practices,” said Wayne Hinton, founder of RootMaker. “We are excited to offer a solution that not only supports superior plant growth but also addresses the pressing need for environmentally responsible products.”
Footprint’s CMO, Nicole Juntunen, added, “Our collaboration with RootMaker® demonstrates our commitment to driving innovation in sustainable packaging.
